Activity capture
Measure how much of a call, email and message lands on the deal automatically. When the dialer and the messaging inbox sit on the record, the log writes itself as reps work; when they are separate tools, a large share of activity never arrives. Test it with a genuine call and a real message, then inspect the deal.
Rep adoption on mobile
Count the taps it takes to log a call and set a next action on a phone. That number predicts how complete your data will be, because field reps will do exactly as much admin as the tool makes easy and no more. Put your two busiest reps into the trial and ask them privately which system they would rather open.
Forecasting you can defend
Judge the forecast on whether it is built from logged activity and stage age rather than from optimism at month end. A number with a traceable reason can be questioned and improved; a number from gut feel cannot be defended to anyone. Move deals through stages in the trial and watch whether the forecast and the pipeline views update in a way a manager could explain.
Routing and speed-to-lead
Inbound is won by the fastest credible first response, so routing should be automatic and the owner should be alerted the moment a lead lands. Submit a test lead during the trial and time what happens — if it sits waiting for someone to assign it, you have found a leak before you bought the tool. See lead management software for the capture-to-close picture.
Manager visibility without nagging
A pipeline review, a stuck-deal list and a rep-activity view should exist without anyone building them. If a manager has to raise a ticket to get a number, they will stop asking and start guessing. Build your weekly review unaided in half an hour in each candidate.
