Lead-Leakage Audit
Most teams do not have a lead problem — they have a follow-up problem. Score how much revenue is leaking out of your funnel through uncontacted leads, slow first response, and too few follow-ups, and see exactly how much you could recover.
About the Lead-Leakage Audit
What does this tool do?
Estimates the annual revenue you lose from three common follow-up gaps — leads that are never contacted, leads contacted too slowly, and leads dropped after too few follow-ups — and shows how much is recoverable.
Why does it matter?
Lead-response research consistently finds that speed and persistence, not lead volume, decide who wins the deal. Roughly 80% of conversions need five or more follow-ups, yet most teams stop after two, and qualification odds fall sharply once the first hour passes.
Definition
Lead-Leakage Score = (1 − current capture rate ÷ best-practice capture rate) × 100, where capture rate = (% of leads contacted) × (speed-to-lead retention) × (follow-up coverage). A higher score means more revenue is leaking from your funnel.
Assumptions
- Best-practice baseline assumes ~98% of leads contacted, first response within 5 minutes, and 5+ follow-up attempts.
- Speed-to-lead retention degrades as first-response time rises beyond an hour and collapses after a day.
- Follow-up coverage scales toward full effectiveness at about 5 attempts.
- Close rate is applied to leads that are actually worked; estimates are directional, not a guarantee.
How do you interpret your results?
A score above 60 usually means the fastest revenue win is fixing process and follow-up speed — not buying more leads. Recoverable revenue is the upside from closing those gaps.
