How to use this guide

Read the intro to confirm this is the right workflow, complete the steps in order, then review the common issues and related articles if your setup behaves differently from the standard path.

What you'll need

  • A CSV with up to 50,000 rows
  • At minimum, email OR phone per row
  • Recommended: name, company, source, owner_email, status columns
  • About 8 minutes
  1. 1

    Open Leads tab

Click Leads in sidebar. Empty Leads table will show with Import button at top right.

  2. 2

    Click Import → Upload CSV

Drag CSV onto dropzone. Up to 200MB or 50,000 rows per upload.

  3. 3

Map your columns to CRM fields

Auto-detect by header. For unmatched, pick CRM field or Create custom field on the fly.

  4. 4

    Choose duplicate handling

Skip duplicates (recommended), Update existing, or Create anyway. Match on email + phone with normalization.

  5. 5

    Set default values

Source (e.g., CSV import - May 2026), status (New), owner (single or routing rules).

  6. 6

    Preview the first 5 rows

Spot-check fields, especially phone formatting and date columns. Click Back if anything looks off.

  7. 7

    Click Import

Background job runs. 100 rows = 5-10 seconds; 50,000 rows = ~90 seconds. Final summary shows imported, duplicates, errors.

  8. 8

    Apply lead-routing rules (optional)

If routing rules set, click Apply routing now to assign all imported leads to reps.

Frequently asked questions

What's the row limit per import?

50,000 rows. For larger migrations, use our API or split into multiple CSVs.

How do I import from HubSpot/Salesforce/Zoho?

Export as CSV, then follow this same flow. We have a one-click HubSpot importer on Pro+.

Do imported leads trigger automation?

Default no. Toggle Run automations on imported leads to enable — bypass avoids blasting old contacts with welcome emails.

Can I undo an import?

Yes within 30 days. Settings → Imports → Roll back. Soft-deletes the imported leads.

How do I import notes and activities, not just lead fields?

Use the API for activity import. CSV importer covers leads only.
