How accounting services are bought in the USA
Demand arrives in a ninety-day spike
American accounting demand is seasonal in a way few other professions experience. A large share of new-client decisions happen between January and the April filing deadline, exactly when the firm has no capacity to sell. Prospects who email during that window are comparing two or three firms, and the one that acknowledges quickly and follows up in May wins engagements the others never knew they lost.
The real product is the recurring engagement
A one-time return is the doorway; monthly bookkeeping, payroll, and advisory retainers are the business. Selling those requires something most firms do not have: an organised record of which clients and prospects have which needs, and a follow-up habit that survives busy season. That is a pipeline problem, not a marketing problem.
