How logistics is actually sold in India
The enquiry is a rate request, and speed decides it
A shipper needs a container to Nhava Sheva or a truck to Bhiwandi and asks four providers at once, usually through a portal enquiry or a WhatsApp message. The first credible rate to arrive shapes the negotiation. Everything else in the sales process is downstream of that response time.
The price has an expiry date
Fuel, market conditions and space availability move rates constantly. Companies that quote with a validity period and revise openly have fewer arguments than those whose old rate is screenshotted back at them a month later by a customer who never agreed to a revision.
One consignment is not an account
Spot movements and monthly billing accounts behave differently. A month of good spot work can flatter a forecast badly. Keeping them separate is what makes a branch review honest, and it changes who the field team should be visiting.
