How SaaS actually sells in South Africa
The commercial yes is only the halfway point
A South African mid-market deal is won twice. First on merit, in a demo and a proposal, and then again in supplier onboarding, where the client procurement team asks for registration forms, banking confirmation, tax clearance and an empowerment certificate. Software teams that treat the second half as administration lose weeks, because none of that paperwork starts until someone realises it is needed.
Budget windows decide more deals than product comparisons
Financial year-ends differ across South African companies, and a proposal that lands after a budget is locked is not rejected so much as postponed for a year. Knowing a prospect planning window is worth more than another feature comparison, and it belongs on the account record where the whole team can see it.
