Quick answer

Is HelloGrowthCRM right for ERPNext Alternative?

Yes. HelloGrowthCRM gives ERPNext Alternative a single system to capture every lead, automate follow-up across phone, WhatsApp, and email, prioritise leads with AI scoring, and forecast revenue — with calling and messaging built in instead of sold as add-ons. It's built for the problems these teams actually hit — like the CRM module came free with the ERP, but three months in someone is still building forms, workflows, and print formats instead of selling — rather than generic sales busywork.
  • A hosted sales pipeline you configure yourself: stages, deal values, owners, and next action dates, with no server to provision, patch, or restore before your team can start using it
  • Built-in dialer with click-to-call from the lead record, automatic logging, recordings, and per-rep call reports, rather than a telephony integration you install and maintain as a custom app
  • WhatsApp inbox on the official WhatsApp Business API, with threads attached to lead records and shared across the team, so conversations survive a resignation or a territory change

01

What ERPNext genuinely does well

Let us start with the honest part. ERPNext is a mature open-source ERP with a real community behind it. The licence is free, you can self-host it and keep every byte of data on infrastructure you control, and the framework underneath is properly extensible — new doctypes, server scripts, custom workflows, print formats, the lot. For a business that wants accounting, stock, manufacturing, and HR in one place without a per-seat licence, that is a strong proposition, and the CRM module comes along as part of the package.

None of that is in dispute here. The question this page answers is narrower: if your problem is sales execution, is the module inside a free ERP the right tool for it?

02

Where the free CRM module starts costing money

Somebody has to own the instance

Free licence, paid attention. A self-hosted deployment needs a server, backups that are actually tested, TLS certificates that do not expire on a public holiday, and a person who understands the upgrade path well enough to apply a version bump without breaking the customisations someone wrote last year. In a company with an engineering team, that is a manageable line item. In a twelve-person sales business, it becomes one person's unpaid second job, and the honest total cost is their time.

A module is not an execution system

ERP modules are designed around records and documents. Sales is designed around activity: the call that has not been made, the WhatsApp reply nobody answered, the quote that has been silent for nine days. Getting that from an ERP module usually means building it — workflows for reminders, a custom app for telephony, a third-party bridge for WhatsApp, and a report script for anything a manager wants to see weekly. Each piece is possible. Together they are a project.

Structural differences only. We do not publish figures for the other product, because a self-hosted deployment has no single number to publish.

When you should stay with ERPNext

There are clear cases. If regulatory or contractual requirements mean customer data cannot leave infrastructure you own, self-hosting is the answer and this page is not for you. If you have in-house developers who already maintain the instance and your sales process is genuinely unusual, extending what you have will be cheaper than adopting anything new. And if sales is simply not where your bottleneck is, do not buy a second system to solve a problem you do not have.

05

What the first week looks like if you do switch

Export leads, contacts, and open opportunities to CSV and import them. Set up the pipeline stages your team already uses in conversation, not the ones you wish they used. Connect a business WhatsApp number and a calling provider. Invite users, set response windows, and turn on escalation. Leave the ERP alone entirely for the first fortnight, then wire the won-deal handover to it once the sales side is settled and you know which fields matter.

Challenges we solve

The problems holding this industry back — and the fix

Every team in this space loses revenue to the same recurring gaps. Here is what they cost you and how HelloGrowthCRM closes each one.

  • The CRM module came free with the ERP, but three months in someone is still building forms, workflows, and print formats instead of selling.

HelloGrowthCRM ships opinionated sales defaults — pipeline, stages, SLAs, reminders — that a team adopts in a day, with custom fields available when the default genuinely does not fit.Working pipeline on day one

  • Self-hosting is free until you count the server, the upgrade that broke a custom app, and the person whose evening it consumed.

HelloGrowthCRM is fully hosted. Upgrades, backups, and uptime are our problem, and the version your team logs into on Monday is the one that worked on Friday.Fully managed hosting

  • Reps live on WhatsApp and the phone, but the ERP has no native inbox or dialer, so both channels sit outside the system that is supposed to hold the customer record.

The WhatsApp inbox and the dialer are part of the product. Calls log themselves, WhatsApp threads attach to the lead, and both feed the same follow-up reports.Native WhatsApp and calling

  • Field staff will not open a desktop ERP form to record a site visit, so activity data is reconstructed from memory on Friday and trusted by nobody.

A mobile app built around what a rep does — call, message, log an outcome, move a stage — takes seconds per interaction, so the activity data arrives while it is still true.Mobile-first for field teams

What you get

Why teams choose HelloGrowthCRM

AI-powered CRM with the features you need to close more deals.

  • AI lead scoring that ranks open leads by engagement and fit, so the morning worklist is ordered by who is worth calling rather than by whoever filled the form most recently
  • Follow-up sequences over WhatsApp, email, and SMS with reply detection, so cadences pause automatically when a prospect answers and the rep steps in on a live conversation
  • Multi-source lead capture from web forms, Facebook and Instagram lead ads, click-to-WhatsApp, and inbound calls, with routing rules that stamp an owner and a response deadline on arrival
  • GST-compliant invoicing raised from the deal record, so an Indian small business can quote, close, and bill without re-entering the same customer into a second system
  • A mobile app for field and telecalling teams: prioritised follow-ups, one-tap dialling, WhatsApp replies, voice notes, and stage changes recorded from wherever the rep is standing
  • Escalating follow-up reminders that nudge the owner when a lead passes its SLA and alert the manager if it stays untouched, so nothing quietly ages out of the pipeline
  • Custom fields, multiple pipelines, and configurable stages managed by an admin in the interface, with no code deployment, no bench command, and no staging environment to keep in sync
  • Sales reporting on activity and outcomes: calls made, conversations progressed, follow-ups completed, deals won and lost by reason, per rep and per pipeline, without writing a report script
  • Managed upgrades, backups, and uptime handled by us, so nobody on your team spends a Saturday recovering an instance that stopped accepting logins after a version bump
