What a freelancer is actually deciding
You are not choosing between two CRMs. You are choosing between a CRM and the system you already have, which is a notebook, your phone's call log, a WhatsApp thread and your memory. That system works until it does not, and the failure is always the same shape: a job you would have won if you had called back on Thursday.
So the decision is narrower than the marketing suggests. Does this tool reduce the number of enquiries that quietly evaporate, at a cost in money and effort that a one-person business can carry? If it needs configuring, training or a weekly maintenance ritual, the answer is no regardless of how good the feature list looks.
The three failures worth paying to fix
Almost all lost freelance revenue comes from three places: quotes that were never chased, past clients who were never contacted again, and invoices that were never followed up. Everything else is optimisation. A tool that reliably fixes those three is worth having; a tool that does forty other things and is too slow to open on a phone is not.
Why the phone is the whole product for you
A freelancer has no admin colleague and no desk time between jobs. If the record has to wait for a laptop, it waits until the evening, and by the evening it is either wrong or missing. The realistic window is the ninety seconds after a conversation ends, standing next to a van or walking out of a building.
