The job: making the season visible while it is happening
How it is usually done
Admission enquiries arrive by phone, at the front desk, through a website form, from school visits and from parents who were told about you by another parent. In most institutes each of those lands somewhere different: a register, a notebook, an inbox, a counsellor phone. At the end of the season somebody counts admissions and compares them with last year.
That comparison arrives far too late to change anything. A funnel tracker exists so that the state of the season is readable in February rather than explicable in July, and so that an enquiry which has not moved in nine days is visible on the ninth day.
