What startups actually need
A startup CRM has a different job from an established company one. You are not managing a known process at scale; you are trying to discover what the process is. That inverts the usual requirements. Flexibility beats depth, speed of change beats configuration power, and the ability to record why you lost matters more than the ability to forecast what you will win.
There is a second requirement founders underrate: the CRM is where your first salesperson learns the job. If early conversations are not written down, the first hire has nothing to study, and their ramp becomes a re-run of your first year.
