How apparel brands actually sell in Nigeria
The order has a date and the date does not move
A great deal of Nigerian apparel work is tied to an event. A wedding, a birthday, a funeral, a company anniversary. The outfit is needed on a specific day, often by several people at once, and there is no version of nearly ready that anybody accepts. That single fact makes production tracking a commercial necessity rather than an operational nicety, and it is why a brand that is excellent at design can still lose customers permanently over one missed deadline.
Enquiries arrive on Instagram and continue on WhatsApp
Discovery happens on social media and conversation moves to WhatsApp within a message or two. Prices are discussed, measurements are promised, deposits are transferred and screenshots are sent. It is fast and it works, and it also means that on a busy week a meaningful share of enquiries are never answered at all, because nobody can tell which threads are still waiting.
