How IT services deals move in Thailand
Trust first, specification second
A Thai IT services deal is a relationship that eventually produces a purchase order. The integrator gets introduced — by an existing client, a vendor partner, or at an industry exhibition — then earns the work through visits, patient technical discussion and demonstrated reliability. Decisions route through hierarchy and consensus, so the enthusiastic IT manager saying yes in the meeting is the beginning of the approval, not the end. Pushing harder does not shorten the cycle; disappearing during it loses the deal.
Two markets under one roof
Bangkok firms typically serve two very different buyers. Thai corporates and family businesses negotiate in Thai, communicate on LINE, and reward loyalty across years. Foreign-owned manufacturers — many Japanese — in the Eastern Economic Corridor buy with formal specifications, English documentation and strict fiscal-year timing. The same six-person sales team has to run both motions without dropping either, which is exactly what an undisciplined pipeline makes impossible.
