How telecom services actually sell in South Africa
Coverage lookups are the top of the funnel
Most enquiries begin with an address typed into a coverage checker. The answer splits the market into three: live infrastructure, a planned build with a date, and nothing coming soon. Providers who treat only the first group as pipeline throw away the second, which is the group most likely to convert quickly once the area goes live and least likely to remember which ISP asked them to check back.
Much of the growth is other providers customers
With shared open-access infrastructure, switching provider is often a commercial decision rather than a construction project. That makes migration a core sales motion, and it is governed by the customer existing contract end date and notice period. A provider who tracks those dates schedules a clean switchover. One who does not creates a service gap and starts the relationship badly.
