The problem this software is supposed to solve
Almost every business that buys lead management software is trying to solve one problem: enquiries arriving and then dying quietly. Not being rejected, not being lost to a competitor after a fair fight, simply never being properly contacted. It is an unglamorous failure and an expensive one, because those enquiries were already paid for through marketing, referral effort or reputation.
Understanding that clarifies what to evaluate. The software has five jobs: capture the enquiry wherever it arrives, recognise when it is the same person as an existing record, put it in front of the right person quickly, make sure contact actually happens, and record enough about all of that to tell you where the losses concentrate. Everything else in this category is a refinement of those five.
There is no ranking on this page and no scoring, because the right system depends on your enquiry volume, your channel mix and your team structure. What follows is how to evaluate each of the five jobs, and what a trial should prove before you commit.
