Why Indian teams look for an Odoo alternative
The pattern repeats across Indian SMEs. A manufacturer, distributor or services firm decides to modernise, is shown an integrated business suite covering accounting, inventory, purchase and CRM, and signs. The finance and inventory work begins, because that is where the value case sits. The sales team, which asked for a pipeline in the first place, waits. Six months later the books are moving and the reps are still working from WhatsApp and a spreadsheet, because nobody has reached their part of the plan.
That is not a failure of the software. Integrated suites earn their keep on the operational side, and Indian partners have built real expertise in localising them, GST included. It is a sequencing problem: the sales layer is the cheapest and fastest thing to fix, and it is usually scheduled last. Teams look for an alternative when they realise the pipeline does not need to wait for the ERP, and that the two can run side by side.
