How cars change hands in Egypt
Facebook is the showroom window
An Egyptian buyer researches on Facebook groups and marketplace listings, asks the same question under ten posts, and negotiates by inbox message before ever seeing the car. A single good listing can pull a hundred comments in a day, of which perhaps five are buyers. The dealer's real problem is not demand — it is telling those five apart from the ninety-five, fast, every single day.
The price is a moving target
Because import costs track the exchange rate, the number quoted on Sunday may be wrong by the following week. Deals pause while buyers wait for a dip, then everyone returns at once when the market steadies. A showroom that cannot tell which quotes are live, which are expired and which buyers said call me when prices settle is negotiating blind in both directions.
