Where solar leads come from, and where they leak
Rooftop demand is generated on the ground: society camps and roadshows, referrals from installed customers whose bills dropped, calls from newspaper ads and hoardings, WhatsApp bill photos forwarded by relatives, dealer and electrician tip-offs, and subsidy-driven walk-ins asking what the scheme means for their roof.
The leaks are logistical. Camp conversations end as bill photos scattered across personal phones, unmatched to names. The hoarding call rings out on a Sunday. The referral from a delighted customer is thanked and never logged. Survey photos live in one engineer's gallery while the proposal team waits. Solar has a long, education-heavy cycle, and every gap in the record restarts the education from zero, usually with a different staff member and a slightly different answer.
