Three sets of expectations
Email practice for an Indian business is shaped by three things at once. The domestic data protection framework, which asks about consent, purpose and withdrawal. The laws of any country where your recipients are, if you sell internationally. And the requirements of the mailbox providers, which are not law at all but determine whether your mail arrives.
Teams usually consider only the third, and only when deliverability drops. Considering all three at the design stage produces a practice that is simpler to run than the alternative of reacting to each problem separately.
