How dealerships track enquiries today, and what it costs
The floor runs on an enquiry register, a consultant's phone and a manufacturer system that begins to care once a booking exists. Between the walk-in and the booking there is almost no record at all.
That gap is where the money is. A customer who visited on Saturday, did not get a test drive and was called once on Tuesday has usually bought elsewhere by the following weekend, and nothing in the register explains why.
