Consent that can be evidenced
Local data protection duties are specific about contacting people for direct marketing purposes, and the obligation sits with your business. Ask how consent is captured with a timestamp and a source, whether the basis for contact is visible to the person about to make it, and whether consent survives a merge of duplicate records. A consent history that vanishes during a merge is worse than none, because you will believe you have evidence you do not.
Opt-out that reaches every channel
Test this in five minutes during the trial. Opt a contact out through a message, then attempt to call them and to email them. If either goes through, the system does not have a consent model, it has a per-channel preference field. That distinction matters when somebody complains, and it is far cheaper to discover during an evaluation than afterwards.
WhatsApp as the whole conversation
For a great many customers here the enquiry, the negotiation and the confirmation all happen on WhatsApp. A CRM that captures calls and email but treats messaging as a separate tool is recording a minority of the relationship and reporting confidently on it. Run a real conversation through each trial, including a reply arriving after the session window has closed, and confirm the whole thread attaches to a lead with a stage, an owner and a next action.
Offline behaviour and power interruptions
Field teams here work through outages and weak coverage as a matter of routine. Test the mobile application deliberately: put it into aeroplane mode, log a visit, add a note, set a next action, then reconnect and verify everything arrived intact and in order. Also test what happens when a connection drops midway through an entry. A system that silently discards work will lose your team permanently, and no training programme recovers that.
Data cost and application weight
Field staff frequently pay for their own mobile data, and a heavy application that consumes it will be used less, quietly. Ask about mobile data usage, whether media can be compressed before upload, and whether the application works acceptably on a slower connection. Then let a field executive use it for a week and ask them directly what it did to their data usage.
