A season in the life of a travel consultant
An enquiry arrives on WhatsApp at nine in the evening for a week in Bali in December. The consultant replies the next afternoon, spends two hours building an itinerary, and emails it. Then silence. No follow-up is scheduled, and by the time anyone asks, the family has booked elsewhere or postponed.
The cost is the itinerary itself, which is real work given away for nothing, plus the visa file stalled on one photograph, the balance payment chased two days before departure, and the traveller who came back delighted last March and has not heard from the agency since.
