How recruitment follow-up works today, and where placements leak
A recruiting desk is a machine for creating gaps. Submit a candidate and a gap opens until the client responds. Book an interview and a gap opens until it happens. Make a placement and a gap opens until the guarantee period ends. Every gap is silence, and silence is where placements die: the candidate accepts elsewhere, the client cools on the role, the contractor finishing next month signs with another agency nobody knew was calling.
Recruiters fill roles, not gaps
None of this is recruiter laziness. A consultant running twenty live roles cannot also hand-write forty update emails a week, so the updates simply do not happen. The candidates notice. The clients notice less, which is worse, because their feedback drifts from tomorrow to next week to never.
