Where insurance leads come from, and where they leak
An agency book grows from a handful of predictable sources: referrals from existing policyholders, purchased lead lists, missed and answered calls on the office number, branch walk-ins, WhatsApp enquiries, POSP or sub-agent submissions, and the quiet goldmine of renewal dates on policies already sold.
The leaks are equally predictable. Purchased lists get worked for a week and abandoned without anyone recording which rows answered. Referrals are taken verbally and forgotten by Friday. The walk-in who asked a cross-sell question leaves uncounted. And renewal dates, the most valuable data an agency owns, sit scattered across policy PDFs, old sheets and agent memory, which is exactly where a competitor with a cleaner calendar wins the case.
