Event work happens at venues, not desks
An event team spends the week at recces, vendor meetings, setup days and live events. The office is somewhere they occasionally sleep. New business arrives during all of it and competes directly with delivery for attention.
The recce
This is the most information-dense hour in the business. Loading access, power, ceiling height, parking, the restriction on music after a certain time. Photographs taken during the walkthrough carry more into the production plan than any note ever will.
The enquiry during a live event
Event companies lose work in their busiest weeks, which is a particularly frustrating way to lose it. An enquiry that sits unanswered for three days during a wedding season is usually gone, and everyone was too busy to notice.
The expo stall
Two days at an exhibition produce a large number of conversations, most of which blur together by the flight home. Capturing what each visitor is planning and roughly when takes a minute and separates real enquiries from polite interest while it is still possible.
