How law firms handle the phone today, and what it quietly costs
A law practice's telephone life has two halves. The front half is intake: enquiries from the website, directories and referrals, each one a person with a problem and a shortlist. The back half is service: update calls, document chases, scheduling around hearings and closings, and the billing conversation nobody enjoys.
Both halves leak in characteristic ways. Enquiries returned late convert at a fraction of the rate. Clients who are not proactively updated call reception repeatedly, then leave a review about communication. Invoices age because follow-up is nobody's assignment. None of this reflects legal skill; all of it decides whether the practice grows.
