How nonprofits call today, and where relationships leak
Fundraising is a relationship business run, in most organisations, on heroic memory. Donors give and receive a receipt. Pledges are made at events and written on the back of programmes. Lapsed supporters are noticed annually. Volunteers are coordinated through WhatsApp groups that bury every commitment within a day. None of this is a lack of care; it is a lack of record.
The most expensive silence in fundraising
The costliest gap is the unthanked donor. A first gift is a trial of trust, and the organisations that keep donors are usually the ones where a person, not a template, says thank you soon after the gift. The second costliest is the lapsed regular: someone who gave every year and stopped, whose absence nobody notices because no list was watching their giving date.
