The customer is at the counter for forty minutes and then gone
Jewellery selling is standing work. A family arrives, twelve pieces come out of the tray, the mother has opinions, a rate is quoted, and then everyone leaves saying they will come back after visiting two more shops. Whether they come back to you depends almost entirely on what was written down while they were still there.
The occasion date is the buying signal
A wedding in November, an engagement next month, a festival purchase, a gift for a grandchild. Each has its own timing, and the follow up that works is the one that lands while the family is actively deciding. A date on the enquiry turns guesswork into a calendar.
Photograph what was shown
A follow up call that says please visit us again achieves nothing. A call that says the second necklace you liked, the one with the ruby drop, is still available, is a different conversation. That difference costs one photograph taken at the counter while the tray is still open.
