How architecture studios handle calls today, and where projects leak
A studio's calling is low in volume and high in stakes. A handful of enquiries a month, each potentially worth a year of fees, arrive through referrals, Instagram, the website and directories. Each one needs a first conversation, usually a site visit, a brief, a fee proposal and then a negotiation that can stretch across loan sanctions, plot registrations and family deliberations.
The studio failure mode
Studios lose projects in the gaps between deadlines. The enquiry that arrived during submission week got one reply. The proposal went out and nobody called to walk the client through it. The client who said ask me after the approvals was never asked. None of this is lack of interest; it is that follow-up lived in the heads of people whose heads were full of drawings.
